About Monica

I grew up in Northern Utah and dreamed about one day moving to California. Now, I have been here for 22 years and celebrate every single day the wild beauty that I see, capturing its timeless appeal in outdoor photo shoots, along with studio portraits.

My love for photography started at the age of 19 when I spent a summer in Aspen, working as a nanny for an editor of National Geographic.

Every day, I would take the 6-month-old baby in my care to a nearby cabin where her mother would work alongside other National Geographic photographers. They would have their photos displayed on slide tables to decide which images were going to make it into the magazine. I would banter with the photographers and ask them countless questions, as they asked me which photos were my favorites and why.

Years later I would realize that was part of my training…

My love for photography grew that summer and never subsided. Following a successful career as a hair colorist, I chose to attend the Santa Barbara City College Photography Program in pursuit of my reawakened passion.

I've been actively working as a photographer since 2013.

I never get bored, as I'm constantly taking classes and learning new tricks.

I have the best job in the entire world!
